Saffron Lane

Third in the Peppercorn series and my 80th novel published. I'm a bit surprised at that myself!

Nell has come to feel very at home in her beautiful corner of Wiltshire with her partner Angus. What she could do with, however, is a challenge, and the prospect of bringing life back to an abandoned row of houses, Saffron Lane, is just what she's looking for.

Stacy, lost and alone after a divorce she didn't see coming, is trying her best to start over. And Elsa, battling her nieces who would force her into residential care, longs for a home where she can get back to her painting. When their paths cross, the future starts to look brighter although not all goes according to plan.

Peppercorn Street and the 'people' who live there became so real to me that I had to find out more about them and the book turned into a series, and then three books turned into four. Amazing what your imagination can dream up! I've absolutely loved writing these stories.

I started off my career by writing historical stories and I still do that, love it! But writing modern stories as well refreshes my imagination and that's necessary when you've written over 80 novels, believe me. Actually, I'm a bit surprised at it being over 80 now! I've loved writing every single story.

When I'm thinking about modern novels, it makes me look at the world I inhabit myself and try to understand it better. Just as writing historical novels makes me want to understand more about how ordinary people's lives have changed over the years.

What a joy being a story-teller is!
